Sober October, Anyone?

The fall is a fantastic time to take a break from booze and reevaluate your relationship with alcohol. In just one month, you will start seeing the benefits of being alcohol-free, including better sleep, improved concentration, more money in your pocket, a stronger immune system, and time and energy to do activities you enjoy. (Also, a major bonus: your skin will be GLOWING!)

If you are considering a sober October, here are a few strategies to make the transition easier:

1. Stock up on non-alcoholic beverages. There are more options than ever: pumpkin spice lattes, cider, non-alcoholic beer, seltzer, etc. Companies like
#RitualZeroProof and #Seedlip make amazing non-alcoholic spirits so you can still have fun craft cocktails. (No affiliation - I just really like Ritual and Seedlip!)

2. Tell your friends and family about your Sober October plan. Maybe you can even recruit a few people to do it with you!

3. Be willing to sit with the discomfort of not having a nightly glass of wine or attending a social function without a beer. That feeling isn’t permanent. You are making your future self proud!

4. Revel in your extra time and energy being hangover and brain-fog free! Reward yourself with an early Sunday morning breakfast burrito.

5. Keep track of the money you aren’t spending on alcohol and use it towards a personal financial goal (i.e., add the funds to your emergency fund, travel budget, or towards the upcoming holiday season).
